Spring Cleaning: Getting Your Apartment in Tip-Top Shape

As the spring season is upon us it might be a good idea to get started on some spring cleaning. The flowers are getting ready to bloom at Garden Communities CT and so are you. Time to ditch those jeans you promised yourself would fit after your fifth fad diet. In order to kick off your spring cleaning you should make a plan: start simple, de-clutter and say goodbye to things you don’t need. It’s important to keep your luxury living apartment in good condition so that it can shine as bright as you.

Make a Checklist

When you’re ready to jump start your spring cleaning it’s important to make a plan or have a checklist. This way you can easily target your goals. Divide your checklist into categories; start by writing down each room in the house and making a list of what you’d like to achieve in each room.

As you begin cleaning, you can check things off the list. This not only keeps things organized, but it sure feels good to check things off as you go. A plan or checklist is also helpful to keep you on task as spring cleaning duties can take an especially long time!

Start Simple

Start with the easiest tasks first. If you know that your spice rack has been a complete disorganized mess for months now, start there. Once a simple task of organizing and de-cluttering is complete this will jump-start your motivation to move on to the next project. Have you been meaning to align the piles of shoes sitting at the bottom of your closet? Get in there and give some old shoes the boot!

Discover & De-clutter

De-cluttering your apartment is not only purposeful but also feels so refreshing. There are many ways to de-clutter your apartment. De-cluttering is not as easy as it sounds, in fact, it’s quite a big task. It’s important to start to de-clutter by making separate piles; things you need, things you don’t and things you’re not sure of.

Next, you want to think of creative ways to handle storage. It’s helpful to store containers under the bed or the sofa to optimize your space. Another way to de-clutter is to put things where they belong. Re-folding your drawers and revisiting your closet and cabinets is a good place to start.

Time To Say Goodbye

Parting is such sweet sorrow…or is it!? The first step to a successful spring cleaning is parting with things you no longer need. It’s not always noticeable at first, but clutter stems from hanging on to things you don’t use or don’t have space for. A great place to start is in your closet. I am sure you have some old bell bottoms that have served their purpose many moons ago. Time to say “goodbye,” to the old and “hello” to your new reformed, spacious closet. This is a great opportunity to donate to the poor or help a friend whose been tight on money.

You worked hard to get your apartment in tip top shape, now go celebrate!
